The story
Editions: from the standard edition of unknown size.Leo Gestel is a well-known representative of the Bergen School, the Dutch equivalent of expressionism. In order to make a living, many artists took on commercial assignments, as did Gestel for Philips. In the same style as this poster he designed catalog covers and pagemarkers. Advertising had not turn into a science yet, so Gestel was free to apply his own bold style to produce a poster which visualizes the claim that Philips had put the force of nature in a light bulb!
