The story
A fine smal dutch colonial silver sirih box, apparently unmarked, Sumatra, circa 1750
Octagonal, the sides with various bands of swirling 'sanded' and stylised foliage bands, also engraved with floral medallion, the hinged cover engraved and bright-cut with sunbursts, C-scrolls and floral ornamnets and bands. The base inscribed in Arabic/Persian/Devanagari. A translation is in proces.
